The VR-L Passive Visual Range Finder is a large-format analogue range card that estimates distance to a target by comparing its apparent size against calibrated silhouette rings. A completely passive, battery-free rangefinder designed for deer stalkers, Mountain Rescue teams, military observation trainers, 4WD expedition drivers and survival instructors who want a range estimate that never fails. What it does: hold the 7.87-inch disc at eye-extension, align a target with the matching silhouette (person, 4WD, lorry, tank, helicopter, drone, cow or standing livestock), and read the calibrated range directly off the card. No electronics, no batteries, no laser — just geometry and a well-designed card. Why passive matters: electronic rangefinders fail when batteries die, lenses fog, glass breaks or extreme cold shuts the circuit down. The VR-L is a reliable backup that always works. In military observation training, Mountain Rescue and survival contexts it is also silent — no laser signature, no electronic emission.
