The GTA 05-02-012 Coordinate Scale and Protractor is the US Army and USMC standard map navigation tool, faithfully reproduced to DOD specification on 1.5mm flexible PETG. Designed for soldiers, cadets, RMC and ADFA candidates and land navigation instructors who need an accurate, field-durable map protractor that survives real training conditions on Australian and NATO exercises. What it does: lets you plot UTM and MGRS coordinates, measure grid azimuths in degrees or mils, and read distances on 1:25,000, 1:50,000 and 1:100,000 military topographic maps. Works with UK Ordnance Survey Landranger and Explorer sheets, NATO military maps, and historical map series. Graduated in degrees (0–360) on the outer ring and mils (0–6400) on the inner ring. Why the reverse-printed design matters: the UV-cured graphics sit on the underside of the 1.5mm PETG, so when you lay the protractor on a map the lines are flush with the paper — no parallax error, no apparent shift when you view the scale from an angle. This is why orienteering federations, Australian Army Cadets instructors and land nav trainers favour this construction over thick stamped acrylic.
