Product Description
RA 9 IN Degrees Mills Metres Yards
The RA 9-Inch DMMY Protractor is the large-format variant of the RA6 design — a nine-inch semi-circular military protractor built for land navigation instructors, command-post staff, fire-direction trainers and planning cells where precision across larger map areas is critical. Graduated in both degrees and mils with coordinate scale plotters in metres and yards for 1:25,000, 1:50,000 and 1:100,000 topographic maps. What it does: plots grid azimuths in degrees or mils and measures distances on every major military mapping system — UK (Ordnance Survey), Canadian (NTS), Australian (Geoscience), US (USGS) and NATO. The 50% larger radius translates to finer angular resolution and cleaner long-leg bearing work than a pocket-sized protractor can deliver. Why the 9-inch size: at command-post distances and in classroom sand-table work the six-inch is limiting — the additional scale arc of the 9-inch reduces rounding error and makes the protractor easier to read across a crowded map. Preferred for infantry and artillery instruction, fire-direction trainers, RMC and ADFA classroom work and operations cells. Printed on 1.5mm PETG: UV-cured graphics on the reverse ensure zero parallax error. Waterproof, UV stable, solvent-resistant, flexible. Stores flat in a map folio or binder. Ideal uses: land nav instruction, fire-direction centre training, CP map work, sand-table briefings, RMC, ADFA and Australian Army Cadets classrooms, orienteering course-setting. shipped from Buderim QLD, manufactured in Australia.
Features
- Large-Format Accuracy — Nine-inch semi-circular protractor designed for command post planning, classroom instruction and large-area map work. The 50% wider scale improves bearing precision over the standard six-inch protractor.
- All Units, All Standard Scales — Graduated in both degrees and mils with coordinate scale plotters in both metres and yards, for 1:25,000, 1:50,000 and 1:100,000 maps. Works across UK, Canadian, Australian, US and NATO military mapping.
- Classroom and CP Standard — The preferred large-format protractor for land navigation instruction, sand-table planning, fire-direction practice and operations cell map work where precision over distance matters.
- Zero Parallax PETG Build — Reverse-printed on 1.5mm flexible PETG with UV-cured inks. Waterproof, UV stable, solvent-resistant. Lies flat without parallax error during critical plotting.
- Australian-Made, shipped from Buderim QLD — Manufactured by Military Template Technology. The large-format mate to the RA6 DMMY six-inch protractor.
