Product Description
Protractor, Semi Circular, R.A., Mils-Metres. NSN 4VS-1290-99-968-1197
The RA Protractor is a faithful reproduction of the UK Ministry of Defence Royal Artillery service protractor, catalogued under NSN 4VS-1290-99-9681197. A semi-circular six-inch mils protractor designed for artillery plotting, fire direction, call-for-fire and land navigation on British and Commonwealth military topographic maps. What it does: plots grid azimuths in mils (0–3200), measures distances on 1:25,000, 1:50,000 and 1:100,000 map scales via the double-sided integrated plotter, and supports continuous arc plotting through the central offset pivot and peripheral string holes. The RA mils protractor is the traditional tool for fire direction centre (FDC) work and forward observer training. Why this design: the semi-circular format sits neatly on the map edge, gives a clear zero and 3200-mil reference, and the string-hole pattern supports rapid arc-of-fire and range-fan construction. Preferred by British Royal Artillery, Royal Marines, RAF Regiment, Canadian Army, Australian Army and cadets across the Commonwealth. Printed on 1.5mm PETG: UV-cured graphics sit on the reverse so the graduations are flush with the map — zero parallax error during precise mils plotting. Waterproof, UV stable, solvent-resistant. Flexes into a map case or cargo pocket without cracking. Ideal uses: ADF land navigation, Royal Artillery fire-direction practice, RMC, ADFA and Australian Army Cadets training, civilian orienteering, map reading instruction and military history re-enactment. shipped from Buderim QLD, manufactured in Australia.
