The 5-inch Douglas Protractor brings the original Sir Henry Percy Douglas 360° plotting design into a compact, pocket-friendly format. Built for pilots, land navigation students, orienteers, hikers and cadets who need a proper plotting protractor that goes anywhere. Functionally identical to the full-size Douglas: lay bearings, read back-azimuths, find departure and latitude, and determine magnetic course on paper charts and maps. Outer scale for true bearings, inner scale for back bearings, graduated in clean 1° increments. Why the compact size: the 5-inch format slides into a cargo pocket, kneeboard clip, orienteering map case, flight bag or field pack lid without folding. For short-leg plotting, club orienteering, general aviation and backcountry navigation it is often the more practical choice than the 10-inch. Reverse-printed on 1.5mm PETG: UV-cured graphics on the underside mean the graduations sit flush with the chart surface — zero parallax error, no apparent shift when viewed from an angle. The same construction that makes every MTT protractor the accuracy choice over stamped acrylic. Durability: waterproof, UV stable, solvent-resistant. Flexes rather than cracks. Survives rain, sweat, fuel and coffee.
