Product Description
Douglas Protractor 10 IN
The 10-inch Douglas Protractor is a full 360° square plotting protractor built to the original Sir Henry Percy Douglas design — the same pattern that has served Royal Navy, Merchant Navy, military and aviation navigators for over a century. Designed for chart plotting, land navigation, flight planning and orienteering where precise bearing work is non-negotiable. What it does: lays and reads bearings in degrees, finds departure and latitude on a paper chart, and determines magnetic course. The outer scale shows true bearings and the inner scale shows back bearings, graduated in clean 1° increments. Works with UK Hydrographic Office Admiralty charts, Ordnance Survey maps, sectional aeronautical charts and NATO military topographic maps. Why the 10-inch size: large enough to span a full chart section and read bearings across long legs, but still thin and flexible enough to slide into a navigation kit, map case or flight bag. Reverse-printed on 1.5mm PETG, it lies flat on the chart with zero parallax error — a meaningful accuracy gain over stamped acrylic plotters. Field-proven construction: UV-cured, solvent-resistant inks. Waterproof, UV stable. Flexes under pressure rather than cracking. Shrugs off coffee, sweat, fuel and chart table abuse. Ideal uses: maritime chart work, RYA Yachtmaster and Day Skipper preparation, general aviation navigation, land nav training, orienteering club use, military instruction, bushcraft and primitive skill practice. shipped from Buderim QLD, manufactured in Australia by Military Template Technology.
Features
- Authentic Douglas Protractor Design — Full 360° square plotting protractor built to the original Sir Henry Percy Douglas pattern. The classic navigation protractor for laying and reading bearings, finding departure and latitude, and determining magnetic course on paper charts and maps.
- Complete Plotting Geometry — Outer bearings on the outer scale, back bearings on the inner scale, graduated in 1° increments. Works for land navigation, maritime chart plotting on UK Hydrographic Office charts, RYA and Australian Sailing training, aviation flight planning and orienteering.
- Reverse-Printed, Zero Parallax — UV-cured graphics sit on the underside of 1.5mm flexible PETG so the graduations are flush with the chart surface. Essential for accurate bearing work on a plotting compass setup.
- Field Durable and Flexible — Waterproof, UV stable, solvent-resistant. Flexes without cracking, unlike thick acrylic plotters that snap in a map case or flight bag. Inks survive sun, rain, sweat and fuel.
- Australian-Made, shipped from Buderim QLD — Direct from Military Template Technology. Fast Australia-wide delivery. The Douglas Protractor chosen by Royal Navy sailors, RAF pilots, military instructors and orienteering clubs.
